How to break a person’s life. Innocent mum spent Christmas in cell after husband lied she stabbed him

Hire a killer

An innocent mum spent Christmas Day behind bars after her husband lied that she stabbed him.

Marcin Stawecki, 39, faked his own injuries before calling police in December last year, who found him with cuts on his chest.

Stawecki claimed his wife, who has not been named, ‘slashed’ him while he was sleeping.

She has forgiven her husband in spite of his ‘wicked lies’, a court heard.

Stawecki dialled 999 at 12.45am before the mum-of-two was arrested at their home in Wrexham, North Wales, and held in a police cell, spending Christmas Day apart from her children.

But after she was released on bail on Boxing Day, police discovered the wounds were self-inflicted in ‘revenge’ after Stawecki claimed she slapped him during an argument.

He later took the two children to Poland, returning on January 10 without them – when he confessed ‘he did it as revenge’ while drunk.

‘It did not happen, I did it to myself’, he told police – adding that he had warned his wife ‘I’ll stitch you up’.

Defending Stawecki, John Wyn Williams told Mold Crown Court: ‘His wife has forgiven him. The family unit seems to be back together.’

Stawecki was jailed for 20 weeks after pleading guilty to attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Sentencing, Judge Rhys Rolands told him: ‘Your wife should not have been kept in custody and away from her children at Christmas.

‘Instead, she’s taken away from them and put in a police cell as a result of wicked lies on your part.

‘You’d hurt yourself and lied by way of revenge because she slapped you.

‘It was deliberate, calculated and the lies were reinforced by some sharp implement being used to inflict wounds.’
