The ‘Doomsday mum’ has been pictured in a mugshot for the first time after being found guilty of murdering her two children and conspiring to kill her husband’s ex-wife.
Lori Vallow Daybell, 49, wore braids and an orange and cream-colored striped shirt in her mugshot released by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office on Monday morning. She appeared to smirk.
A jury found Vallow Daybell guilty on Friday of murdering her kids Tylee Ryan, 16, and Joshua ‘JJ’ Vallow, 7, and plotting to kill her husband Chad Daybell’s ex-wife Tammy Daybell, 49.
In Ada County Court in Boise, Idaho, Vallow Daybell did not appear to display any emotion as the verdict was being read.
Her appearance in her mugshot was a stark contrast to wavy, lighter blonde hair she maintained during the five-week trial.
Vallow Daybell was booked into Madison County Jail.
She faces life in prison and has been extradited from Idaho to Arizona to be charged with conspiracy to murder Charles Vallow, her fourth husband.
Her sentencing may not take place for a few months, Judge Steven Boyce said.
JJ and Tylee disappeared in September 2019 and Vallow Daybell refused to say where they were. A month later, Tammy Daybell, 49, was found dead in her sleep.
The bodies of the two children were found buried in June 2020 in a Rexburg, Idaho, property owned by doomsday author Chad Daybell.
Prosecutors argued that Vallow Daybell and Chad Daybell intended to use Tammy Daybell’s life insurance money and hide the death of the two kids to continuing collecting social security and benefits payments. They claimed that Vallow Daybell acted as if she was getting rid of evil spirits possessing the victims by carrying out the killings.
Meanwhile, Vallow Daybell’s lawyer argued that she was manipulated by Chad Daybell and his doomsday and apocalyptic word.
Chad Daybell faces a trial on similar charges for he deaths of Tylee, JJ and Tammy Daybell.
